Behringer Mini FEX 800 Multi FX Processor Review

Behringer Mini FEX 800 Multi FX Processor

Just a quick review of this awesome piece of kit that I have. For anyone wanting a really great vocal effect unit all in one this is highly recommended.  I have seen people saying on reviews that the effects are very low and not noticeable. All i can imagine is there using it with a guitar maybe or something. See the post on Magix Music maker if you want cheap excellent sounding guitar effects. Saying that I have tested this unit with a guitar and it is good but far superior as a Vocal Effect unit.

This unit has 16 effects which are very effective for singing. I use this for Sing snap and Second life and as soon as the people in Second life heard the sound everyone wanted one. And guess what there only about £38 GBP.  I remember buying a reverb unit second hand once from a music shop for over £100 and it only did that, Reverb!  This does that plus Chorus, flanger, Phaser, loads of types of echo effects, reverse, delay and pitch shift and all of these effects are adjustable from nothing to too much. It has a button to turn the effects on and off instantly in case you need to speak without the effects and then switch back quick.

If you sing I would very highly recommend one as there not only awesome fun on the pitch shift and reverse effect but uber at sounding like the classics. In fact I love it that much i AM going to find a way to get a sample on this page of its (hmm not much effectiveness lol) brb gonna grab me some uploading and html :)

..............time goes by.....

Finally found a Media player hope you get a good indication of the great effects this unit has for the price. Although I only did a quick test each effect can be altered to varying amounts to produce a ideal sound you want.

Hope you choose to get one and have as much fun as I have with this.

Magix Music Maker 16/17 Review

Magix Music Maker 16

One thing I have that seems annoying with Magix Music Maker 16 is that it comes with this plugin called Vandal SE Guitar amplifier and it doesn't seem to allow you to use it as a live amp (play and hear directly).

I thought it might just be to allow you to apply effects to the clean guitar you have recorded previously on the timeline which indeed it does do after you have played and recorded it.

Bummer :( that's a great amp with some awesome effects but why cant you just use it like an amp with all them effect pedals etc. So I googled it and the only info on a forum I could find was someone replying to this question can it be played and heard directly and the answer was no.

Well I have found a way simply do this. Press M to bring up the mixer select the effect Vandal SE Guitar amp plugin just above the volume sliders on for example track one there is a drop down menu thingy.

Then this will bring up the Vandal amp in screen. Just move it slightly out of the way and click on the same track channel on the mixer that is still up behind and select audio record as the input/option, not midi etc.

Then hit the play button on the timeline in the main program and it will loop a no sound at all empty song. Remember not to record any other sounds on the whole timeline first unless you want a bit of backing like bass and drums etc. Now you'll find it is live and as your guitar is strummed it comes directly out of the speakers.

Woot it works and I guess its then possible to either record this via other wav recorders or just mash out playing with all them awesome effects.

This was achieved by plugging a standard practice amps headphones output socket to the line input on the PC via a step down adapter to 3.5mm phono or whatever it is lol.
